Many consider this region to be the island’s most desirable and beautiful.  It enjoys a unique phenomenon producing the warmest sea waters north of the Carolinas.  This fortunate position of the Northumberland Strait allows the collection of the summer’s warm Gulf Stream, creating bathtub temperature water.  Swimming is superb.  Your most difficult choice may be choosing your day’s beach; do you prefer white sand, red sand, a still surf for starfish gazing or crashing waves beneath secluded cliffs? .

Enjoy farm-to-table fine dining. Reservations required, please; see sample menus above.  Daily tables d'hôte are offered in the home’s formal dining room overlooking the lawns.  Your dining room views are those enjoyed by

“Anne of Green Gables” author, LM Montgomery, a hundred years before you.  This inspiring beauty endures with magnificent European lindens.  The age of European lindens is measured in centuries.  Now century trees, they tower above the three storied gables.  Had Ms. Montgomery wondered of eventual heights of these trees?

It is our intention to exceed your expectations, to create your most treasured memories of Prince edward Island.  It is our privilege to share the refined beauty and ambiance of this home and its special region.

YOUR SPECIAL OCCASIONS

Complimentary design/event planning with celebrated San Francisco, Napa-Sonoma Wine Country designer.  From Birthdays, Anniversaries, Family Reunion Dinners to simple or sumptuous Weddings, Business Meetings, Club or Corporate Dinners or Retreats,

we create memorable events.

THE MANSION

The three story, seven bedroom home was built in 1899.  References of the home occur in several novels.  The home is a superb example of a Colonial Queen Anne Victorian Double Dutch Gambrel.  The elegant country style mansion remains original with artisan curved plaster walls and woodwork.  Four working original fireplaces have elaborate European hand carved mantels.  Much interior fine woodwork remains unaltered, unpainted, retaining its rare, distinctive, rich depth of its original varnish.

The second and third stories offer well appointed rooms overlooking estate sized lawns with distant pastoral vistas.  The front rooms enjoy views directly into the upper

broad branching of towering century European linden trees.

According to Charlottetown Heritage Records, LM Montgomery stayed here when the home was a private residence.  A member of the island’s early 20th Century intelligentsia,

Ms. Montgomery attended the soirées at the summer residence of Sir Andrew Macphail.

It was a short carriage ride from

BLACK FOX MANOR.  Today, his home is a national heritage site.

From your comfortable old world atmosphere, you may enjoy convenient access to all the island’s features. After exploring beaches, playing golf at world class courses, deep sea adventuring, or conducting business in the capital city of Charlottetown, you may enjoy the ambiance of

BLACK FOX MANOR INN providing you with restful quiet evenings, sumptuous breakfasts

and evenings of fine dining.

Your room is furnished with a featherbed and luxurious high thread count bed linens.

BLACK FOX MANOR INN dinners and ultimate nights’ sleep are familiar topics at breakfast.

Many consider this region to be the island’s most desirable and beautiful, possessing both rural beauty and convenience to amenities and attractions.

Nearby panoramas from Point Prim extend across the sea to Nova Scotia.  The magnificent setting of BLACK FOX MANOR INN is where the Caledonia Hills meet the Northumberland Strait.  This sea offers the warmest waters of PEI’s many beaches.  The Gulf Stream here causes our bathtub temperature waters, the warmest sea north of the Carolinas.  The austere setting of the Point Prim Lighthouse is at the peninsula’s tip.  Here is the island’s oldest lighthouse.  It is architecturally distinguished having been designed by the architect of nearby Province House where the nation’s founders signed the Confederation of Canada.

Swimming is superb on the island.

Your most difficult choice may be choosing your day’s beach; do you prefer white sand, red sand, a still surf for starfish gazing or crashing waves beneath secluded cliffs?

“Anne of Green Gables” author, LM Montgomery, a hundred years before you.  Inspiring natural beauty endures with the magnificent European lindens.  The age of European lindens is measured in centuries.  Now century trees here, they tower above the three storied gables.  Newly imported from Europe and planted in pairs in front of fine homes, had Ms. Montgomery known and wondered of eventual heights of these majestic trees?

A PERSONAL NOTE from YOUR HOSTS

The island province reminds us of our former home, sleepy agricultural

Sonoma County, California, of half a century ago.

We are inspired and renewed by the magnificent beauty, relaxed culture, wholesome communities.  The rolling hills edged with red cliffs descending into the sea

and the beaches between offer a truly enchanting environment.

Last week as we walked the red dirt road to the beach, a group of  young foxes appeared from a thicket of wild roses, playing nonchalantly as we passed.  The heavy fragrance of roses mixed in the gentle sea breeze. Further along the red clay road were views of Nova Scotia across the sea.

At road’s end, the austerely beautiful landmark Point Prim Lighthouse.

We look forward to sharing the hospitality of BLACK FOX MANOR with you

in this truly special place.

Warmly,

Black Fox Manor Historic Inn
